Grimsby to Walpole: Community Update - Please Share with Residents

Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent targeted consultation on our proposals at Weston Marsh, held as part of the wider Grimsby to Walpole project.

As outlined on the attached community update poster, this phase of consultation allowed us to share more detailed proposals for Route Section 5, including two new substations, associated infrastructure and plans for the earlier delivery of Weston Marsh Substation A. It also gave local people the opportunity to provide feedback before we finalise our proposals and prepare our applications.

We received over 250 pieces of feedback, which alongside the 1,200 responses received last summer, are helping us refine our plans. While we review this feedback, our survey teams remain active on environmental, technical and heritage assessments that will inform the evolving design.

As part of our commitment to supporting local communities, we are also developing a community fund for the area. We have now heard from more than 150 residents about the kinds of long‑lasting improvements they would like to see. We will share more information on this in due course.

We would be grateful if you could please share the attached community update poster on your website or social media channels. This will help ensure residents have access to the latest information about the project. We have also issued a hard copy version in the post which you can put on local community noticeboards.

If councillors or residents have any questions, they can contact the project team by emailing contact@g-w.nationalgrid.com or calling 0808 258 4395 (Monday–Friday, 9am–5.30pm).

If you require additional printed copies, an A4 version, or accessible formats such as large print, please let us know.

For the latest information on the project, please visit our website here Grimsby to Walpole | National Grid. We have also published a Community Update video, which can be viewed at this link.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep local communities informed.

Best wishes

The Grimsby to Walpole Community Engagement Team
